Privacy Policy

The short version. Your private project content stays private to your project and the people you choose to collaborate with. We don't sell your personal information, use your project content for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use private project content to train general-purpose AI models. When AI features process project information, we use AI providers under business or API terms and settings under which that content is not used for model training. You can export your project information and delete your account. Questions: hello@renostudio.app.

This Privacy Policy describes how RenoStudio (“RenoStudio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the RenoStudio website and application (the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Service, and limited technical information.

Account Information

We may collect your name, email address, authentication information, and other account details when you create an account or are invited to a project.

Project Information

RenoStudio is designed to help organize renovation decisions. Project information may include:

  • Room names and project details
  • Product and furniture selections
  • Finishes, plumbing, lighting, and other design choices
  • Photos and inspiration images
  • Floor plans and layouts
  • Product images and labels
  • Quotes, estimates, and uploaded documents
  • Budgets and pricing information
  • Comparisons, approvals, and decisions
  • Comments, notes, and project-related communications
  • Voice notes and other audio recordings attached to project items, comments, or decisions

Where RenoStudio generates or stores a transcript of a voice note, that transcript is also treated as project information. Voice notes and associated transcripts may remain part of the project record until they are deleted or otherwise removed in accordance with the Service's available controls and retention practices.

AI Interactions

When you use RenoStudio's AI-assisted features, we may process the questions or prompts you submit, relevant project information used to answer those questions, and AI-generated responses.

Communications

We may collect information contained in messages, feedback, support requests, or other communications you send to us.

Usage and Technical Information

We may automatically collect limited technical information such as:

  • Device and browser type
  • IP address
  • Pages or screens viewed
  • Features used
  • Approximate timestamps of activity
  • Error and diagnostic logs

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, maintain security, and understand how the Service is used.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information collected through RenoStudio to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Organize renovation project information and decisions.
  • Enable collaboration between homeowners, designers, contractors, and other project participants.
  • Provide AI-assisted features.
  • Analyze uploaded photos, documents, product information, voice notes, and project context.
  • Generate product comparisons, summaries, suggestions, and project-related responses.
  • Communicate with you about your account, project activity, support requests, and important Service updates.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and protect the Service.
  • Understand how RenoStudio features are used.

We aim to collect and use information only where reasonably necessary to provide RenoStudio and its features.

3. AI Features and Processing

RenoStudio includes AI-assisted features designed to help users understand, organize, and evaluate renovation information.

RenoStudio does not use private project content to train general-purpose AI models.

RenoStudio uses third-party AI service providers under business or API terms and settings under which private project content is not used to train their general-purpose AI models. RenoStudio does not opt in to programs that allow private project content to be used for model training.

Relevant project information may be sent to these providers when necessary to generate an AI-assisted response.

Any retention of information by AI service providers is subject to the applicable business or API terms and technical configuration used by RenoStudio. We do not represent that all third-party AI processing is zero-retention unless a particular service has been configured that way.

Depending on the feature you use, AI processing may involve:

  • Analyzing uploaded product photos, labels, documents, screenshots, or other project materials.
  • Extracting product names, specifications, categories, pricing, or other details.
  • Answering questions using information from your renovation project.
  • Comparing products, furniture, finishes, fixtures, lighting, or other selections.
  • Providing observations or feedback about selected items.
  • Summarizing quotes, documents, or project information.
  • Using room information, selections, and available layout or floor-plan information as context for responses.
  • Transcribing voice notes or other audio submitted through supported features.

AI-generated information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated. RenoStudio is intended to assist with renovation decisions, not replace verification from manufacturers, contractors, designers, architects, engineers, or other qualified professionals. Important specifications, measurements, pricing, installation requirements, and construction decisions should be independently verified.

4. Project Collaboration and Sharing

RenoStudio allows users to collaborate on renovation projects.

When you invite homeowners, designers, contractors, or other collaborators to a project, those participants may be able to view, add, modify, or comment on information within that project depending on the permissions and collaboration features available through the Service.

You are responsible for inviting only people you trust to access your project.

Private RenoStudio project information is not made publicly available unless you intentionally use a feature designed to share information outside your project.

Removal From a Project

When a participant is removed from a project, that participant loses access to the project through their RenoStudio account.

Content the participant previously contributed — such as comments, uploads, selections, notes, or decisions — may remain part of the project record so that the project's history and information remain available to the remaining participants.

Removing a participant from a project is separate from deleting that participant's RenoStudio account.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

Project Participants

Information may be shared with users who have been invited to participate in the same RenoStudio project.

Service Providers and Subprocessors

We use trusted third-party service providers and subprocessors to help operate RenoStudio, including providers of:

  • Cloud hosting and data storage
  • Authentication services
  • Artificial intelligence services
  • Security and diagnostics
  • Email and communications infrastructure
  • Other technical infrastructure necessary to operate the Service

These providers may process information only as necessary to provide services to RenoStudio and subject to applicable contractual, privacy, and confidentiality obligations.

For a current list of third-party subprocessors used by RenoStudio and the purposes for which they are used, please see our Subprocessors page.

Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or government requests.
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of RenoStudio, our users, or others.
  • Investigate fraud, misuse, security incidents, or violations of our agreements.

Business Transfers

Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction. Where appropriate, we will provide notice of material changes affecting how personal information is handled.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no online system or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will notify affected users and any applicable regulators as required by law.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for inviting only trusted people to collaborate on your projects.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining security, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements.

When you delete project information or your account, information may take some time to be removed from active systems and may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or systems maintained for security, fraud prevention, legal, or operational purposes.

8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access certain personal information we maintain about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of certain information.
  • Obtain a copy of certain information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable.

Project Export

RenoStudio provides export features that allow you to download a copy of project information and records available through the Service.

The contents and format of an export may depend on the RenoStudio features and project information available at the time of export.

Some information may be managed directly through RenoStudio. You may also contact us at hello@renostudio.app for assistance with a privacy request.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

9. Information About Other People

Project materials you upload may sometimes contain information about other people, including contractors, designers, household members, or other project participants.

If you provide personal information about another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you have appropriate authority to provide that information to RenoStudio.

Please avoid uploading sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your renovation project.

10. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

RenoStudio may use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, performance, and other functions necessary to operate and improve the Service.

RenoStudio uses the built-in analytics provided by Lovable to understand usage and performance of the Service. We do not yet use separate third-party analytics or advertising platforms such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar services.

RenoStudio does not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Some browsers provide a “Do Not Track” setting or similar privacy signals. Because there is not a single universally adopted standard for all such signals, RenoStudio's response may depend on the signal and applicable legal requirements. Where applicable law requires us to recognize a legally valid privacy preference signal, we will do so as required.

If we materially change how cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies are used, including introducing third-party analytics or advertising-related tracking, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any controls required by applicable law.

11. Children's Privacy

RenoStudio is not intended for children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to RenoStudio, please contact us at hello@renostudio.app so we can review and, where appropriate, delete the information.

12. International Users

RenoStudio is operated from the United States.

If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

Privacy and data protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws in your country.

Where applicable law requires specific safeguards for international data transfers, we will use appropriate mechanisms to support those transfers.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as RenoStudio evolves.

If we make material changes, we may notify users through the Service, by email, or through another appropriate method.

The “Last updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when it was most recently revised.
